In the month of May, Rombout Fire Department responded to 47 calls.
This included 19 motor vehicles accidents, 16 automatic fire alarms, one medical assist call, two brush fires, one call for a smoke condition, three calls for oil and chemical spill, four building fires andone animal rescue. Rombout Fire Department provided mutual aid to City of Beacon, Chelsea, Glenham, Village of Fishkill and to Wappingers Falls for the Market Street fire, and received mutual aid assistance from the Village of Fishkill, North Highlands, Cronomer Valley, City of Beacon and Glenham Fire Departments during the month. This makes 218 total calls for the year.
Patricia Lamoree, President of the Rombout Ladies Auxiliary, announced "a successful penny social, that could not happen without the support of the businesses in the community." The money raised will help charitable organizations like the Fishkill Food Pantry of the Dutch Reformed Church and the Burn Center of Newburgh. Every year the ladies buy Christmas presents for the 62 retired firefighters residing in the Hudson Valley Fire Home in Hudson, NY besides donating to their recreation fund. The ladies also provide for the upkeep and care of the gravesites and Christmas wreaths for the deceased members of the Auxiliary at the Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
