Rombout Fire Department responded to total 58 alarms in the month of September: Eight automatic fire alarms, two false alarms, four vehicle fires, three structure fires, one sign fire, twenty-two motor vehicle accidents, two carbon monoxide calls, four calls for flooding
conditions, four EMS assist calls and 1 controlled burn.
Members were able to unlock two vehicles that children were accidentally locked in, two calls for gas leaks, one brush fire, one call to assist Town of Fishkill Police with traffic control and one standby for Castle Point FD. This makes a total of 345 calls for the year to date.

Remember that October is Fire Prevention Month and Rombout FD will be at Fishkill Community Day at Geering Park on Geering Way on October 18th from 12-3pm. So come and see the
100' tower ladder truck, the fire/ rescue truck with the Jaws of Life and other equipment on display. Kids bring your parents down and sit in the driver’s seat of a fire truck. Don't forget your camera!

Rombout Fire Trucks will be at Brinckerhoff Elementary School on Thursday, October 16.

Training highlights for September include: Eight members have started the 52-hours Certified First Responder Course provided courtesy of Dutchess County Community College. Members will be trained for the life saving skills that are critical in the first minutes of an accident or other emergency.

On September 14 an eight-hour course was given for Hazardous Material Operations and Emergency Response. This level of training will help firefighters recognize the presence of hazardous materials and protect themselves and the community against harmful exposure to them.

September 15: Members where instructed about the latest techniques for protection from Blood-borne Pathogens.

September 29: Refreshing training for working with Hose Lines.

Safety Tip of the month- When driving and you see a car with a flashing
blue light it is a volunteer firefighter responding to an emergency call. Please pull to the right shoulder and stop to allow them to pass safely. Remember, they may be responding to yours or your neighbor's house or an accident involving someone you know.
